A New Way to Shoot
At a certain point, watching two men have sex gets boring. Porn gets boring. I've always needed some sort of plot or setup or uniform to fully engage with porn, but lately I feel like it's just the same thing over and over again. It's an ongoing conversation with some of my friends that there's nothing really that exciting out there anymore. I've veered into some different territories (some scarier than others) in an attempt to reignite the fire within, but I may have blown one too many loads and now find myself immune to porn's once beloved charms. I still scour the internet in search of something great, and I'm hopeful that the future of porn brings me back into the fold, but so far I've only found a few glimmers of hope.
One of those glimmers being ManRoyale.com (the link is wonderfully NSFW guys!). One of my friends introduced me to this site a few weeks ago, and it's prospects are exciting. We were both lamenting that visually porn has become a little stale and we were surprised that the industry hadn't adopted any of the new camera tech into the fold. HD is pretty common amongst most of the major sites like RandyBlue, and Dominic Ford does 3D, but I don't think I've ever seen anything as crisp, clear, or detailed as what Man Royale is shooting with. (And they shoot a lot). The difference in how they shoot is noticeable and they seem to be pros at lighting and setting up beautiful shots. It's a little more artful than what we're used to be, but there's an intimacy to what they're doing that makes the viewer experience a little more intense. And when you've got your dick in your hand, intense is kind of the point.
I'd love to see some of their videos a little more fleshed out in terms of story, but they do a nice job of setting up what feels like two people connecting before sex. There's definitely a few daddies in the mix, but they're lacking in the hair department. A little bit of rough goes a long way for me.
What are your thoughts on the current state of porn? Any sites out there that you'd care to recommend?

Exactly why should they be "embarrassed" for posting this? This is common practice for all active blogs. They post all sort of content including information like this. You guys act like someone is forcing you to buy a $5k tuba or something crazy. Ads are everywhere on the internet. You can't escape them. At least this is a relevant and entertaining subject. Relax guys. It is so not a big deal.

Like any drug, one builds up a resistance and tolerance to porn after awhile. What excited us a year ago is now old hat. We get bored. We are Americans, after all. We want new, new, new. How many times can we watch our favorite porn stars fuck before even they get tired in our eyes?

I agree, and there is always the complexity that sex in itself, without any passion, can be exciting, but without passion and intimacy, there is no real variation from the basics. Arousal is in the head, not in the porn. If you are addicted to porn, it will get old very quickly.

I took a break from porn and sex for a year so now i'm like on the prowl for?????I don't even know.I do know this I don't want the same old same old.Who knows maybe some great mind will do something that grabs me or makes me grab me.I've been out of the scene for a year now so i'm probably just crazy in heat right now.

Like you, I have tired of the grinding and humping flicks. It doesn't take much to have 2 or more men be thrown together to get it off. What is missing is the passion, the fire, a legit storyline, between them that is often missing. For me a turn off is the near high schoolish attempt to film, bad acting, bad music, bad dialogue, bad sets, etc. Much too common in a lot of American porn.
BelAmi is one of the few companies that I find surpasses most with men that seem to have spent time earlier to the shoot to build a repoire. That, also with great settings and storylines has me return for their products time and time again.
One I keep going back to is Travis Mathews, I Want Your Love. A beautiful movie with a storyline that develops a relationship between two men and the porn component seems secondary. Very well done.

Granted, we may be different than a lot of men. I find myself looking for film that reflects where I am at, romantic, loving, etc. The porn that is just hard core sex has it's place for others.
Like you, Rob, I too am starting to find companies that are making porn with some serious artistry included. That is most welcome.

I use the fast-forward button when watching porn. I'm interested only in what I consider "the best parts" and turn off the DVD as soon as I've satisfied my urges. I pick up where I left off the next time I view the disk. Works for me!
It would be interesting to see a porn flick with a plot line and decent dialogue. Maybe my fast-forward button would get a rest.

I too have been thinking the same as you. The flat out sex has become routine and routinely boring. I prefer a good quality, gay-themed movie that includes sex where there is some intimacy and a good story.
I LOVE outdoor sex and prefer the variety that can afford. How many times can sex in a room be interesting?
But it's real LOVE and intimacy that makes it work for me. Surprisingly, sex by itself does get boring, but add real intimate love to it and it never gets old.
As with real life sex, Love makes the difference.

I prefer erotic art, drawings, and cartoons to porn. If all I'm doing is using the images as a stimulus to get off then why not let my fantasies go crazy? I love the wild, erotic imaginations of some gay artists, but porn? szz.. so much of it makes sex look like work! Maybe it's hard to capture passion on film. In some ways it's even worse when they try to tack on some lame plot. Some are inadvertently hilarious. I saw one that featured this really butch plumber who shows up to fix the plumbing at a hot gay man's house. The plumber said "Hey." The gay man replied "Hey" back. (The dialogue was a masterful display of understatement.) They were both groping themselves before you could say "Roto-Rooter," and the "plumber'' was down on his knees. I would've at least had the plumber take a look at the sink for a minute and say," Hold on. I think I'll need my snake for this job."

try written porn for awhile - It is safe for work,romantic in some cases,and lets you use your imagination to get what you want - I leak precum for hours reading written porn. Sex alone is almost always boring -- it's the buildup that directors need work on. Of course, that's the hard part and takes skill and perseverance..... The serendipitous encounter that slowly leads to slow disrobing and eventual heat. The anticipation can be as important as the act itself. Maybe more so. I've often traded in DVDs that don't have any well-paced lead-up to sex. Always looking for the ones that make me wait. "God, was I Drunk" - especially the first scene with two soldiers on watch drinking from a bottle, exhausted, with one leading the other to carnal heaven is a favorite. The other episodes are also quite good, especially the cop catching a young soldier relieving himself and making him pay. "Tales from the Foxhole" is also well done. The scene between an older and younger leatherman "In the Name of Leather" is stupendous and sweaty good. The Rick Donovan as student boffing teacher Matt Ramsey in "The Bigger the Better" is a classic. "Cousins" has a wonderful pool scene, also with Matt Ramsey, that builds slowly. There are countless others. Too many to mention. Stick with the great directors. Don't settle for less. Anticipation, anticipation, anticipation.

I think those that direct or shoot the actual videos need to go to a training camp or something. I swear some of these guys have no clue how to even have guy-on-guy sex and it "cums" across (or doesn't cum at all!) in what plays out when they shoot the video. It does NOT make you shoot your load and u feel totally let down. Kinda like that feeling of talking with a hot guy you think is cute and he becomes a jerk to you. That alone takes the feel out of what a scene should feel like.
What is this with all these guys that no longer jerk their sex partner off? Now It equates to each pretty much just doing a solo while laying next to another naked guy. WTF? I thought being with someone during sex was so that he could make you come and vice versa. Where did that idea disappear to?
Now the trend seems to have gone one step further - only one of the guys in the scene actually cums. It's usually just the top and the bottom never gives up the goo in these cases.
So maybe it isn't that porn is not so fun, but it's where these guys have taken it that makes things stink. Back to school, dudes, and learn what having sex WITH someone else is all about.

Just sayin...The Internet KILLED porn...plain and simple...RIP....and in a way, I'm kinda glad, as it's made me appreciate moments of unexpected sensuality that occasionally surprise me...without comparison to the unrealistic calisthenics & ridiculously hyper-sexualized, laughably depilated, 'bled white' imagery of "Modern" porn....yawn. 2 guys connecting before sex would simply make it feel better because its not a Hollywood script thing or a repetitive dress rehearsal where hopping around means that a guy doesn't have to actually be seen long enough to have a hug where attitude and character are a huge part of the stuff in mind that drives things to begin with for sure.

What I've noticed myself reacting to lately is the amateur stuff when the couple is genuinely into each other and the moment. I caught one recently where the boys were completely abandoned to the pleasure of their fucking - especially the "bottom". I felt like a total voyeur, and yet found myself panting along with them before I was 2 minutes in... damn, that was hot!
More and more, I find the "professional" sites to be dull, repetitive, predictable as hell... and the "scenarios"? Oh, puh-leeze! I realize its just porn, but could you hire someone to write this crap who isn't on crack?

Someone criticized the website for posting something like an ad. Anyone who has a website can do what they want even it seems far reaching in the mind of some users. It is the job of those users to make their own site and then their are no complaints for sure. Hope everyone has a nice day.

It is Interesting how they are working with a bit of a story line, the scoring and the arousing sound is fantastic, though after looking through all the previews I have to agree, hair is a bit lacking..
